Play Therapy Institute of Colorado-Founder and Executive Director
Lisa founded the Play Therapy Institute of Colorado (playtherapycolorado.com) in 2009 as part of her mission to educate therapists worldwide with the most cutting edge knowledge possible, so that they can deliver their skills with confidence, grow their businesses and stay inspired in their work. She also wanted to create a place where children and families could go to receive quality and affordable mental health services. In less than 4 years, she grew the Institute from a local business to having an international reputation and presence.
Lisa is also the creator of Synergetic Play Therapy, the first researched informed model of play therapy blending together neuroscience, attachment, nervous system regulation, physics, mindfulness, and authenticity.
In addition to her own mission, she also believes in others’ missions. She is currently the Board Chair for LionHearted Kids (lionheartedkids.org), an organization offering mindfulness based therapies using play, yoga, music, art, therapeutic touch and support services to children and families in South Africa.
She also serves as the Advisory Board Chair for the United Humanity Foundation (unitedhumanityfoundation.org), which is dedicated to cultivating communities where children are protected, women are respected, and men are empowered by providing specialized care for the treatment of addiction in parts of the world where no such services exist.
Lisa’s most important mission is that of motherhood. She is the proud mom of an awesome 10 year old, who has been the catalyst and inspiration for her work in the play therapy field, her own personal development and her dedication to understanding human behavior and how to live authentically.
