SUMMARY:Growing Up in Play Therapy: SESCA Melbourne\, AUS
DESCRIPTION:Growing Up in Play Therapy \nThis day presentation will be offered to the therapist of the South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault (SECASA) in Melbourne\, AUS.\nJoin us as we go back in time and re-visit the early developmental stages of human development and how it impacts the play therapy process. During this 6 hour workshop you will learn to recognize each stage within your child client and yourself\, so that you can begin to assess a child’s emotional age versus their chronological age. Knowing this information is a crucial part of understanding what type of intervention to make and how to conceptualize what is happening for the child. Participants will also gain a better understanding on how to track a child’s progress and how to identify empowerment in the play therapy process\, so that they can feel more confident communicating this information to the child’s parents and teachers. Case studies\, videos and experiential exercises will be used to integrate this information into the play therapy process. \nFor more information\, please go to www.casa.org.us

SUMMARY:Introduction to Synergetic Play Therapy
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nIn this six-month live and webinar course\, therapists and child educators will explore the basic components of Synergetic Play Therapy™. To personalize this training\, participants receive an additional 30 minutes of individual consultation each month. This series started in October 2016.  Stay tuned for 2017 dates! \n  \n\n\nWhat makes this class unique: \n\nWe take cutting-edge research in interpersonal neural anatomy\, mindfulness\, attachment theory and brain development from researchers like Daniel Siegel\, Allan Schore\, Stephan Porges\, John Demartini and others\, and then translate these findings into practical ways of working with children and parents.\nAttachment is a buzz word in child development. However\, few theorists recognize and understand how the attachment process actually works and the importance of attaching to one’s self first and foremost. Synergetic Play Therapy™ is the first play therapy model that integrates this key element into the therapeutic process. As the cornerstone of all healing\, this class will give you insight into what attaching to one’s self means and how to facilitate yourself and your clients in the process of attaching to themselves.\nResearch shows that when we name our emotional state\, we decrease our fight/flight/freeze/fall asleep response and increase our ability to make decisions and connect with self and other. You will learn the importance of the therapist’s congruent emotional expression in the playroom and how this is a key element of helping re-pattern a child’s nervous system.\nAll client symptoms are the result of a dys-regulated nervous system. You will learn how to identify the types of dys-regulation\, how to model regulating activities to clients and how to translate this information to parents.\nWe will also cover the standard play therapy topics such as\, how to facilitate sand\, art\, trauma and aggressive play. However\, we will cover these topics from the perspective of nervous system regulation\, attunement\, attachment to self\, mindfulness and authenticity.\nWith all of these new skills\, it’s important to know how to track the client’s changes for parents\, teachers\, agencies and yourself.  You will learn how to track a client’s transformation in a simple\, yet comprehensive way.\n\nEach month we will build your skill set by exploring different topics through teachings\, supervision\, practice and video observation. \n  \n\n APT Approved Provider 09-264.
