Understanding Dys-regulation in the Nervous System in SPT (Class 2 of 6)
This class you will get to begin the journey into the brain and nervous system states of dys-regulation.  You will begin to understand the child’s symptoms and behaviors from the lens of neuroscience.   You will also have the opportunity to explore these states through video watching and discussion, as well as begin to see how the therapist begins the process of helping the child integrate these states.

Objectives:

  1. Understand the link between nervous system states and the symptoms that show up in the playroom
  2. Understand the importance of regulation in the playroom
  3. Understand how the therapist can begin to model regulation to the child so that the child can begin to learn how to regulate.

The course: In this six-month online course, therapists will explore the basic components of Synergetic Play Therapy™. This course takes cutting edge research in interpersonal neural anatomy, mindfulness, attachment theory, and brain development and then translates these findings into practical ways of working with children and parents. Special topics such as sand, art, trauma and aggressive play will also be covered from the perspective of nervous system regulation, attunement, attachment, mindfulness, and authenticity. Participants will also learn how to track the client’s changes for parents, teachers, agencies and themselves.
